Have you ever watched South Park and wished it were live action and many smidges raunchier? Have you ever thought that your soul was too unblemished? Are you comfortable risking threat of being smited with lightning while watching a movie where the protagonists (along with Bowen Yang as God) sing a song with the chorus “God Is A Faggot”? Have you had a hankering for a movie where Nathan Lane has two sewer monsters caged in his apartment? If you enthusiastically answered “yes” to all of those questions, this is the movie for you.
I will admit the movie dared to be different but I think it tried too hard to shock and the laughs were spread too thin. It’s not that I’m easily offended either. I think “The Book of Mormon” is both shocking and funny. This one leaned in to shock more than it leaned in to funny. I'm sure it will become a cult classic but I can't recommend it.
